Laughlin, Nevada, which lies 90 miles Southeast of Las Vegas along the Colorado River near the Arizona border, has managed to maintain its small-town atmosphere while offering nonstop gaming action, fine dining, live entertainment, outdoor recreation, golf courses, outlet shopping and meeting facilities.
The city is named after Don Laughlin, a pioneer hotelier/investor who purchased a boarded-up motel on the riverbank in 1966. It evolved into the lucrative Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino and became the cornerstone of one of the fastest-growing communities and gaming resorts in Nevada. The town grew rapidly with the arrival of the Bay Shore Inn, Colorado Belle Hotel & Casino, Edgewater Hotel & Casino, Aquarius Casino Resort, Golden Nugget Laughlin, Harrah's Laughlin Casino & Hotel, Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall, Tropicana Express Hotel Casino and River Palms Resort Casino.
