Grand Canyon National Park, which covers more than 1.2-million acres in Northwestern Arizona, offers a multitude of recreational opportunities such as sightseeing, hiking, biking and backcountry camping (permit required). Mule trips to the bottom of the Grand Canyon are also extremely popular. Animals that inhabit Grand Canyon National Park include mule deer, desert bighorn sheep, bobcats, coyotes, mountain lions, ringtails, beavers, gophers, rabbits, chipmunks, lizards, snakes, turtles, salamanders, frogs, toads, scorpions and squirrels.
Grand Canyon West, a destination owned by the Hualapai Tribe at the Grand Canyon's Western rim, is the first-ever cantilever-shaped glass walkway to suspend more than 4,000 feet above the canyon's floor and extend 70 feet from the canyon's rim. The SkyWalk is located 120 miles East of Las Vegas at Grand Canyon West's Eagle Point.
